The documentation permits the access to gender, women's & feminist studies in science and technology (including teaching, crafts, architecture and planning) as well as in medicine.

Firstly, the position of women with regard to training, university study and occupation is handled thematically.

Secondly, the effects on women (as consumers, patients, employees and citizens) are discussed.

Finally, inquiries are made concerning alternative approaches for and by women.

The bibliographical section lists monographs, anthologies and essays from books and periodicals, especially unpublished works (theses) and all other manuscripts on gender studies in sciences, technology, and medicine.

The listing includes titles of systematic as well as of historical character; investigations on special technical disciplines; works on teaching mathematics, science and technology at schools and universities; titles on the theoretical, conceptual and methodological foundations of women's studies; and relevant works on "women in male professions" from research on socialization and in sociology.

The titles themselves have been arranged systematically according to well considered theoretical and historical aspects, and listed chronologically within the systematic structure. The majority of works have appeared since the early 1970s (up to mid-1993) , though important older titles have also been included.

In addition to the bibliography, this volume contains notes on its use and a list of addresses relating to women's professional organizations and projects for women in the fields of science, technology, crafts, and medicine, research groups, initiatives, periodicals and archives, libraries or other sources of information.

Cross-references and an index of authors facilitate using the comprehensive volume.
